About

My studio is based in the heart of Hampshire near Winchester. I look out over fields appreciating the different seasons and loving springtime when the lambs are jumping for joy. The earth, fields and hedgerows provide inspiration with different textures and colour.

Most of my work is thrown on the wheel. I use white, grey and black stoneware clays as well as white porcelain.

Many of the glazes I use I make myself. Despite a lack of interest in chemistry at school I now find experimenting with different chemical materials fascinating. As much of my work is functional it is important to produce durable glazes. I enjoy using different layers to create a flow between glazes. I have hundreds of test tiles where I have tested different combinations. Pieces are fired at around 1220 centigrade in oxidation.
